The number of jobs for dental assistants has been rising steadily in the U.S. More dental assistants are needed as research shows an increasingly important connection between oral care and good health.
The field of dental assisting is growing faster in Montana than throughout the U.S. as a whole. The Montana Department of Labor and Industry expects the number of dental assistant jobs will increase by 29.9% in the ten-year period ending in 2022.
The Department projects that there will be 59 job openings a year. In most states, the majority of dental assistant job openings are due to the need to replace workers who leave the field. In Montana, 59% of the new jobs are created due to growth in the field.
