The number of dental hygienist jobs in Nebraska is projected to increase at a rate of 1.9% a year between 2010 and 2020. This is more than twice the average rate of job growth in the state. Dental hygienist job growth is projected to be even higher than the state’s average in the Lincoln region at 2.1% and in the northeast region at 2%.
Forty-three annual dental hygienist positions are expected to open up each year in Nebraska. They will be split almost evenly between jobs generated by growth and those that involve the replacement of dental hygienists leaving the field.
Two hundred and seventeen additional dental hygienists will become employed across Nebraska during this ten-year period. Sixty-eight of these jobs will be in the Omaha Consortium with the Lincoln area following a close second with 67 new jobs.
